2020 Jeep Gladiator in Fredericksburg, TX
Who makes the only convertible pickup on the lot? Jeep, that's who. This Wrangler-like truck touts all the rugged characteristics and off-road prowess you demand from the Jeep badge. It provides a comfortable interior with a bigger back seat than its midsize truck competitors — plus excellent towing capabilities. Let's get to know this new form of pickup truck.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The debut Jeep Gladiator comes in four trims starting with the Sport, they've even included a Gladiator Launch Special Edition to celebrate its debut. When you imagine Gladiator, think four-door Wrangler with a 5-foot cargo bed. The Rubicon variant is also available, just like on the Wrangler, and so are the Sport S and Overland versions.
With seating for five passengers, the 2020 Gladiator is one midsize, four-door truck that boasts plenty of comfort and convenience. From features like standard 33-inch all-terrain tires found on the Rubicon trim to the Sport's removable top and doors, you'll have an adventure any day in this exceptional pickup truck.
Engine (Power)
This new SUV-based pickup gets up and goes thanks to Jeep's stock 285 horsepower V-6 engine. It's the same time-tested, road-proven engine you'll find under the hood of the Wrangler. It's ideal for most driving situations, from hauling to towing, and is paired with a standard manual gearbox or opt for the smooth-shifting automatic transmission. The word on the street suggests that Jeep will offer up an optional turbocharged V-6 EcoDiesel powertrain later in the model year.
Performance
Leave it to the innovators at Jeep to produce a convertible truck with plenty of high-performance capability. When properly equipped, the 2020 Gladiator can tow a class-leading 7,650 pounds. Its rather short cargo bed offers an innovative tailgate position that allows you to haul a 4-by-8-foot sheet of drywall.
This truck wouldn't wear the Jeep badge if it didn't tackle the trails. It touts the unmatchable off-road performance you expect from the makers of the world-famous lineup of trail-rated vehicles. Take your Gladiator off-road and through the most challenging terrain with ease. You'll appreciate the rugged features like lockable front and rear differentials and a disconnectable front stabilizer bar that you'll find on the Rubicon variant.
Interior
While Jeep focused on Gladiator's performance and capability, its designers didn't forget about the interior. Its cabin closely resembles the Wrangler, as its front half is a mirror image of its SUV cousin.
This new truck offers comfortable, supportive seating for five adults, with a high road position that gives the driver a commanding view of the road. All the controls are within easy reach and they're water-resistant, so plan to hose out your Gladiator after your muddy adventures. Go ahead, stretch out. Gladiator delivers plenty of head- and legroom and the rear seats offer more space than most rivals on the lot.
Safety Features
Like all Jeep models, the all-new Gladiator truck comes equipped with a standard rearview camera. Opt for a variety of available active safety features including rear cross-traffic warnings, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection, rear parking sensors, and forward-collision alerts.
