2022 Dodge Durango
When you want a large SUV with plenty of seating for a crew but don't want to sacrifice power and performance, the Durango is worth your consideration. This capable model combines the appeal of a three-row SUV with the functionality of a muscle car, along with a range of high-end features.
Trim Levels
The 2022 Dodge Durango is a midsize SUV with three rows of seating. It's offered in five trim levels: SXT, GT, R/T, Citadel, and SRT 392. With the base trim, standard exterior features include LED headlights and fog lights, heated side mirrors, 18-inch wheels, and roof rails with crossbars. The GT trim adds sporty features like 20-inch wheels, a power-operated liftgate, and a black grille.
In the middle of the pack, the R/T trim tacks on a sunroof, its own set of 20-inch wheels, and a sport-tuned suspension. Choose the Citadel to get chrome trim and additional towing features. If performance is your top consideration, the SRT is the trim for you. It includes Brembo brakes, a high-performance adaptive suspension, and a limited-slip differential. Several trims are available with the Blacktop package, which adds blacked-out trim and matching wheels.
Engine
Buyers can choose from several engine options, depending on the trim level. The base engine is a capable 3.6-liter V-6 that produces 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. It works with an eight-speed automatic transmission that powers the rear wheels on most trims. When equipped with rear-wheel drive, the Durango also includes a load-leveling suspension.
The R/T trim replaces this unit with a 5.7-liter V-8 engine rated at 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. At the top of the list, the SRT trim boasts its own 6.4-liter V-8 engine that pumps out 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. It also comes with all-wheel drive as standard.
Performance
In everyday driving situations, the Durango performs well with smooth shifts from the eight-speed automatic transmission and impressive steering and handling for a vehicle of its size. Each of the three engine options delivers plenty of power for quick acceleration, while the brake system brings the SUV to an abrupt stop when necessary. The raw power from the SRT's engine is the most impressive, launching it from zero to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds.
Interior
The spacious cabin offers seating for seven as standard, along with cloth upholstery, tri-zone automatic climate control, and manually adjustable front seats. The base trim also comes with a six-speaker sound system, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, dual USB ports, an 8.4-inch touch screen, and satellite radio. With the GT, additional features include heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. You can also add options like heated second-row seats, leather upholstery, an upgraded audio system, a larger touch screen, and wireless device charging. Some of those features come standard on the R/T, along with a household-style power outlet. The Citadel tacks on second-row captain's chairs, ventilated front seats, and upgraded leather upholstery.
Safety Features
Every 2022 Durango comes with a rearview camera, anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, and air bags throughout the cabin. Additional active driver aids include rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The higher trims offer options like lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and adaptive cruise control.
